Fostering Thought: What We Must Do Differently for Black Boys Aging Out of Foster Care
Too many Black boys grow up inside systems that manage crises instead of building healing. They are often supervised before we are supported, labeled before we are understood, and transitioned into adulthood before we are emotionally prepared for it. Then, society acts surprised when instability follows them into adulthood.
The truth is that most young people do not fail because they lack potential. They fail because the systems around them were never designed to fully nurture their humanity.
That must change.
