Houston’s First LGBTQ+ Youth Shelter Opens, Named for Slain Trans Woman

The shelter is named for Asia Foster, a 22-year-old Black transgender woman who was murdered in 2020. Foster had advocated for the needs of transgender teenagers and young adults, particularly around shelter and safe spaces, according to Chron’s reporting.
