Trump Administration Announces Grant Awards for Modernizing Foster Home Licensing

“Across the country, outdated equipment and technology, along with inefficient systems, have slowed required background checks during the placement process. These barriers can hold up the approval of qualified kin, foster families, and prospective adoptive parents — making it harder for children to be placed quickly in safe and loving homes,” ACF Assistant Secretary Alex Adams explains.

In a joint statement with Adams’ federal agency, Tracy Gruber, Utah’s child welfare agency commissioner, said her state plans to use the funds “to reduce fingerprint-based background deck delays, especially for rural and high-barrier households” and “facilitate quicker kinship safety assessments at the point of crisis.”
